Compatibility
Which bottom brackets are compatible with Wert Cranksets?
Wert cranksets feature a 29mm spindle and are direct-fit compatible with SRAM DUB standard. They work with the following bottom bracket types using the appropriate bottom bracket:
- BSA 68/73mm
- T47 (both internal and external)
- BB386EVO
- BB86
- BB92
- BB30
- PF30
For 30mm bottom bracket compatibility, bearing shims are required.
Can I use Wert Cranksets with T47 bottom brackets?
Yes, Wert cranksets are fully compatible with bottom brackets that fit both T47 internal and external style cups.
Are Wert Cranks compatible with power meters?
Yes, Wert cranks work with SRAM/Quarq, Stages, and other power meters that are compatible with our 8-bolt chainring interface.
Can I run 1x or 2x drivetrain setups?
Absolutely. Wert cranks support both 1x and 2x configurations, making them ideal for road, gravel, or mountain bike applications.
Specifications
What are the spindle dimensions?
Wert cranksets feature a 29mm diameter spindle and support the following outer bearing width (OBW):
- Road: 93.5mm for 68mm BB shell & DUB BB with 3mm spacer
- Gravel: 98.5mm
- MTB: 113.5mm
These dimensions are optimized for modern bottom bracket standards and proper chainline configurations.
What crank arm lengths are available?
Wert crank arms are available in: 157.5mm, 165mm, 170mm, 172.5mm, and 175mm to accommodate different rider sizes, riding styles, and terrain preferences.
What Q-factor do our cranks have?
Q-factor is the outside-to-outside distance measured between the pedal surfaces of the two arms.
- Road: 144mm
- Gravel: 149mm
- MTB: 159mm
Note: While most MTB frames provide clearance for Wert StW MTB cranks, some frames may give interference issues that added spacer with may solve, providing there is enough driveside spline overlap. Wert can supply a custom length axle for a surcharge.
What chainring interface does Wert use?
Wert cranks utilize a 8-bolt compatible direct mount interface. This interface accommodates various single chainrings and is compatible with aftermarket spiders (with or without integrated power meters) that support different bolt circle diameters (BCD) for your existing or preferred chainring setup.
What chainlines are supported?
Typical chainline measurements with Wert cranksets:
- Road 1X: 44.7mm with compatible direct mount chainring
- Road 2X: 43.5mm with compatible road spider
- Gravel 1X: 47.5mm with compatible direct mount chainring
- MTB 1X: 55mm with compatible 3mm offset chainring
How much do Wert Cranksets weigh?
Wert cranksets start at 294 grams for arms and spindle (without bottom bracket, chainrings and bolts), making them among the lightest titanium cranksets available.
Installation & Maintenance
What are the recommended torque specifications?
For optimal installation:
- Apply 0.7 Nm bearing preload torque using an HG cassette tool when installing the drive-side crank arm onto the axle
- Secure the drive-side crank arm and axle with 25 Nm using an 8mm hex key bolt
We strongly recommend using a calibrated torque wrench for installation.
Do Wert Cranks require special preparation?
Use Ti-Prep anti-seize compound or standard petroleum-based grease on all titanium threads (spindle, bolts, pedal threads) to prevent galling and to ensure smooth operation.
Are pedal washers required?
No, pedal washers are not required with Wert cranks, unless specifically recommended by the pedal manufacturer. We generally prefer installation without washers.
Warranty
What warranty do Wert Cranksets include?
Wert provides a 3-year limited warranty to the original retail purchaser against manufacturing defects. This warranty excludes normal wear, crash damage, and issues resulting from improper installation.
